Reise + Camping 2017: Highlights of the Largest Holiday Fair in North Rhine-Westphalia at a Glance

Crime Thriller Trip, Smart Camping and Vehicles for Every Budget

At Reise + Camping, the trends for the coming holiday season will be introduced from February 15 to 19. No matter whether extraordinary adventure trips or the newest caravans, motorhomes or comfortable equipment. Holidays will begin at Messe Essen. These will be the highlights of North Rhine-Westphalia's largest holiday fair:

The ScandinavianWorld will present itself larger than ever in 2017. In Hall 12, around 30 exhibitors will introduce trips and destinations in the far north of Europe, in addition to ferry companies and camping sites. Fans of Scandinavian crime thrillers à la Stieg Larsson or Jussi Adler-Olsen will find just what they are looking for at Highländer Aktiv Reisen. The participants will set out on a literary investigation trip to the scenes of world-famous crime thriller bestsellers. These will include a visit to the Gothenburg and Stockholm archipelagos as well as a guided tour of the city of Copenhagen. Welcome to murderous Scandinavia.

Package Holidays were Yesterday - Individual Adventure Trips are Popular Today

How about a tour through the Australian outback, an active voyage of discovery through Sweden by canoe or an adventurous excursion through Kamchatka? The possibilities of organising your next holiday are just limitless as the landscapes to be visited. In 2017, Reise + Camping will offer a multifacted available range of individual trips to all adventure seekers. 13 suppliers will present themselves in the special show entitled "International Special Trips" in Hall 10: Australien Shop Münster, Boomerang Reisen, Geograf Exkursionen, Horizont Fernreisen, Ikarus Tours, ITR Afrika, Kondor Tours, Kuga GmbH, Nature Trekking, Rucksack Reisen, SAILACTIVE, TARUK International and WIGWAM. In the Holiday Cinema in the "Tepee", the exhibitors will give an initial foretaste of their travel adventures with brief lectures and videos.

Comfort at the Push of a Button

Be flexible, free and independent - and if you like, spend every day somewhere else. For years, that has made holidays in motorhomes or caravans so popular. And this trend is continuing. Manufacturers of motorhome and caravans as well as the accessory specialists have reacted to this and are developing their vehicles and products in an ever user-friendlier way - and thus even more towards comfort, too. For example, accessories which are child's play to operate make the camping life easy and convenient - quite simply at the push of a button or using a smartphone app. On the AL‑KO special area in Hall 2, a few leading experts in the sector will present what smart technology is available on the market at present and everything that will still come in 2017. The following companies will be represented in this circle: the two vehicle manufacturers Frankia (camper vans) and Fendt-Caravan (caravans) as well as the accessory experts AL‑KO (hydraulic supports, caravan manoeuvring systems and chassis connectivity), SAWIKO (lifting devices for scooters and motorcycles), Alden (multimedia systems) and Thitronik (alarm systems). It will be possible to see the vehicles and products which can be tested intensively in situ.

Innovation: "camparound" - the New Interactive Camping App

The "camparound" app provides its users with an interactive map on which they can find thousands of points relevant to them. In addition to finding camping and parking spaces, the app also offers information about hiking and cycling routes, skiing areas, various leisure activities, sights and current events close to camping sites. The app pays particular attention to portraying the character of a camping site - e.g. using 360-degree images.

From the Beginner's Model to the Luxury Liner

Around 50 vehicle makes will be represented at Reise + Camping. No matter whether the beginner's model for the small budget or the luxurious high-end motorhome for camping holidays on the highest comfort level - North Rhine-Westphalia's largest holiday fair will leave nothing to be desired. In Hall 3, Dethleffs will show a caravan for camping newcomers. Back to the roots - that is the idea behind the new c'joy series of models. With simple equipment (with which everything is nevertheless attached and included), compact dimensions and a low weight, the inventor of the caravan is treading the path back to the origins of caravanning, i.e. simple but independent living in freedom. And c'joy shines out with just this simplicity - in the positive sense. Because it has everything needed for camping on board but, in favour of an attractive price and the weight, does without everything that would overload it. In contrast, Morelo (Hall 3) will show the "Dream House on the Move". The Empire Liner makes an elegant impression because the windows and the flaps are flushly integrated into the side walls. A noble design is convincing in the interior. No matter whether a genuine glass rain shower and natural stone decoration in the bathroom or the panorama skylight above the gigantic bed from which the starry sky can be observed in splendid comfort - the Empire Liner gives camping a new dimension.

Innovation: European Start for the Tetra-Pod

With the Tetra-Pod, Tetra-Pod.eu will present an absolute one-off on the European market. The Tetra-Pod is a unique transport trailer which, in one minute at most, becomes a closed waterproof camping trailer, a bulk material tipper or a fully fledged recreational craft. On the road, the Tetra-Pod is authorised for a payload of up to 500 kilogrammes and a loading volume of 750 litres. For use on water, the Tetra-Pod is certified according to the newest Recreational Craft Directive of the EU. It may be equipped with an outboard motor with up to 10 bhp. With a payload up to 372 kilogrammes (including equipment), it even tows larger things over water. Besides, the Tetra-Pod is virtually unsinkable.
